1379 - Poll Tax.  Barnsley now probably the largest settlement in Staincross Wapentake with 58 married couples and 21 single persons (and 6 servants) listed.

1397 - Penistone Grammar School founded

1413 - Five men fined for digging coal at Darton

1480 - Monk Bretton monks had a flock of 360 sheep on Notton Moor & fulling mills by their Dearne Priory.
